Define possible courses for qualified teachers

Your school might have courses in its course catalog that only a few teachers on your staff are qualified to teach. For example, you might have introduced a Media Production course that only a few staff members can teach.

To not limit your master schedule by assigning course sections to each qualified teacher, you can list the course as a course each teacher is qualified to teach, and use the dynamic teacher assignment mode when building the schedule. This alerts Aspen to use any teacher with the course listed on their Assignments side-tab during the day and period that is best for the master schedule.

To define possible courses for qualified teachers:

1. Log on to the Build view.
2. Click the Staff tab.
3. Select a teacher for whom you want to list a course they are qualified to teach.
4. Click the Assignments side-tab.
5. On the Options menu, click Add. The New Staff Schedule Assignment page appears.
6. Select the Course number and type the Course description.
7. Type the Minimum and Maximum number of sections of this course that Aspen can assign to this teacher.
8. Click Save.
9. When you build the Workspace, use the Dynamic Teacher Assignment mode.
